Derby County are trailing Newcastle United in the race to sign Hull City’s Abel Hernandez according to the bookies.
According to popular bookmakers BETVICTOR, Derby County have been installed as the new second favourites behind Newcastle in the race to sign Hull City striker Abel Hernandez.
The 27-year-old’s contract with the Tigers expires in the summer, so he will be available on a free transfer.
Hernandez joined Hull from Palermo in the summer of 2014, and has gone on to score 39 goals in 110 outings for the Humberside outfit thus far.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Newcastle are leading the race to sign the Uruguayan this summer, and BETVICTOR make the Magpies 2/1 favourites to obtain his signature.
Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, though, given the lack of links, they list Derby as 4/1 second favourites to sign Hernandez.
The Rams are currently sitting in sixth position in the Championship table, and if they are to have any chance whatsoever of beating Newcastle to the Hull striker’s signature, they will surely need to gain promotion to the Premier League this season.
The Uruguay international would be a useful addition to Gary Rowett’s squad, and if they manage to beat Newcastle to his signature, it would surely be seen as a real coup for the east Midlands outfit.
