Celtic are now the favourites with one bookmaker to be the side that signs Liverpool’s Danny Ings this summer.

Danny Ings of Liverpool in action during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Stoke City at Anfield on April 28, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

According to bookmaker Sky Bet, Celtic are the most likely side to sign Liverpool striker Danny Ings this summer, with the Hoops listed as the 15/8 favourites to bag the Englishman’s signature during this window.

Ings has endured a frustrating time since arriving at Anfield. When he has been on the pitch, he has looked promising, but injuries have restricted him to just 14 Premier League appearances since his arrival in 2015.

The Sun recently reported that Liverpool value Ings at £20 million and would be willing to let him leave this summer, with Southampton and Crystal Palace both interested in luring him away from Merseyside.

Interestingly, Sky Bet currently give Palace little chance of actually signing Ings this summer, with the Eagles listed at 9/1 to get a deal done. The Saints find themselves as the 2/1 second favourites.

But it is Celtic who apparently have the best chance of signing Ings before the window closes. Sky Bet list the Bhoys as the 15/8 favourites to sign the 25-year-old, who was superb during his final Premier League season with Burnley.

It would arguably prove to be a huge surprise if the odds prove to accurate from this point and Celtic manage to sign Ings. Brendan Rodgers has been able to show some real ambition in the transfer market with the permanent deals for the likes of Olivier Ntcham and Odsonne Edouard, but Ings’ £20 million asking price is on another level.

A loan move may perhaps be possible. Rodgers already has three strikers at his disposal who will feel that they should be his first choice, but Ings has the potential to make a devastating impact if he did end up at Parkhead.

It is certainly intriguing at this stage that Celtic find themselves leading the betting market, and there are likely to be a large number of Hoops fans hoping that there is something in the odds.
