Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing that Konstantinos Mavropanos scored a wondergoal for VfB Stuttgart earlier.
What’s the story?
Well, the Arsené Wenger signing – who cost £1.8m – was loaned back to VfB Stuttgart in June, having also spent the 2020/21 campaign there too.
Strangely, Edu allowed VfB Stuttgart to have a purchase option after the loan expires, which is worth just £5m.
After seeing the 23-year-old’s goal today, Arsenal are probably regretting that decision tremendously.
As you can see below, Mavropanos scored a goal that Arjen Robben would be proud of against TSG Hoffenheim earlier today in the Bundesliga.
For some reason, the 5-cap Greek international was out on the right flank, even though he was playing at centre-back.
Confidently, Mavropanos drives inside and curls a delightful effort into the bottom left corner, before going crazy in front of the home support.
Have Arsenal made a mistake with Mavropanos?

Mavropanos now has three goals and one assist in eight appearances this season, which is fantastic for a centre-back.
The Greek colossus is also looking very assured at the back, and seems a real gem at just 23 years of age.
So, why did Edu allow VfB Stuttgart the choice to have him for just £5m?
It really does seem like a baffling decision.

In our view, VfB Stuttgart will activate the clause – they’d be fools not to – and Mavropanos will see his value soar within a few years.
In our eyes, it could be similar to the Serge Gnabry situation, which saw the German blossom into one of Europe’s best after leaving Arsenal.
For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about the Mavropanos goal…
