Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to Jack Wilshere’s comments that he is ‘sure’ to have a ‘conversation’ with someone at the club after Mikel Arteta’s comments, as he told Sky Sports.

Wilshere is currently a free-agent after leaving Championship side Bournemouth this summer.

But Arsenal boss Arteta has stated that the ‘door is open’ for him to return to North London, as he told Sky Sports.

As a result of those comments, this is what Wilshere had to say.

“I spent the majority of my life in that club,” said Wilshere. “I gave a lot to that club.

“To hear the manager – who I played with, who I had a good relationship with, I really enjoyed playing with him, sharing the dressing room with him – to hear him come out and say the door is always open is nice.

Asked whether or not he would take Arteta’s offer up, Wilshere said: “It can only help me.”

Arsenal fans have reacted in a positive fashion to Wilshere’s comments and have stated that they would welcome him back with open arms.

Given that the Englishman is one of their own and came through their academy then it’s understandable that they would warm towards him that way.

Not many would have expected Wilshere’s career to be where it is currently is when he was bossing the middle of the park as a teenager against Barcelona.

But that’s the brutal reality of football and how things can change in the flick of a switch.

It remains to be seen whether Wilshere does return to the club that made him because it would be some story.

In truth, given that a second-tier side let him go then it’s clear that the Gunners shouldn’t go for him.

But the old Arsenal romantic, who will be looking at it from a nostalgic point of view, will be crying for him to be handed a contract.
