Lucas Torreira is finally back in Arsenal training.
The Uruguay international had an extended break due to his participation in the Copa America.
He then had to make a pit-stop in Madrid to avoid having to quarantine upon returning to England from South America.
Torreira hasn’t played for Arsenal in a year and it’s very possible that he won’t again, with Mikel Arteta seemingly having no plans to use him in the senior squad.
But some Gunners fans want the former Sampdoria midfielder – who spent last season on loan with Atletico Madrid – to return to the squad for the Premier League this season.
Here’s how some reacted to a photo of him from London Colney:
Is he staying at Arsenal?
In all probability, no.
Football London reported on Friday that Torreira has been personally told the 25-year-old that he is free to leave the Emirates Stadium club.
Despite a fine first season at Arsenal under Unai Emery for the 2018-19 campaign, his stock has gradually fallen in North London and it would be a big shock if he ever plays under Arteta again.
His most recent appearance for the club came last July – and that pretty much says it all.
