The Ballon d’Or ceremony took place on Monday evening, and while most eyes were on the main award, the Kopa Trophy was also handed out at the gala.
Gavi won the top prize in that category as the best young player on the planet, but there were a few other interesting names within the top 10.
The likes of Jude Bellingham and Ryan Gravenberch made the cut, as did Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.
Saka ranked eighth in the voting here, and interestingly one player who finished above him was Tottenham target, Josko Gvardiol.

Gvardiol is a player Spurs would love to sign. He has been touted as their top centre-back target by The Daily Mail, while Alasdair Gold has claimed that Spurs would even prefer to have Gvardiol over Alessandro Bastoni – a player they targeted for months this summer.
It’s not hard to see why Spurs want Gvardiol so much. He’s just been ranked as the joint-sixth best young player in the world, and he’d be a great fit in Conte’s back three.
A fast, strong, left-footer who knows how to play a pass, Gvardiol would be a gem for Conte’s Spurs, but sadly, it doesn’t look like Tottenham are going to get their man.
Indeed, Bild have been reporting that Gvardiol is set to join Chelsea, and it has to be said that he’d fit beautifully in a Graham Potter team in the same way he would in a Conte side.
Sadly for Spurs, they’re not going to be getting their hands on the sixth-best youngster in the world, and he’ll be headed to another of their London rivals.
Of course, whether or not Gvardiol proves to be worthy of being ranked higher than a player like Saka in this award remains to be seen, but he’s certainly showing a lot of potential already.
