Newcastle said to hold interest in Leeds attacker.

According to The Mirror, Newcastle United are interested in Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe.
Roofe has been excellent for Leeds this season and scored two late winners over the Christmas break to keep the club’s promotion challenge firing.
Roofe is worth a lot of money to Leeds right now, quite possibly more than Newcastle are willing to, or able to pay.
For that reason, Leeds should not be too worried about immediate interest from Newcastle.
The Toon also have a superior option on their books currently playing in the Championship, Dwight Gayle.
Gayle is on loan at West Brom, and like Roofe, he has 13 goals in the division this season.

The Newcastle owned forward’s goals come every 101 minutes, better than Roofe’s rate of a goal every 122 minutes.
Gayle also has a superior track record to Roofe.
The Leeds man has 27 Championship goals in three seasons. Gayle scored 23 in one Championship season alone as he helped Newcastle win promotion in 2016/17.
Gayle has never really excelled in the Premier League, and does not have Rafa Benitez’s trust, so on one hand, it might make sense for Newcastle to look at another option.
Yet unless Roofe can really pull away and show he is superior to Gayle, he is not the striker Newcastle should be pinning their hopes to.
