Liverpool’s Nathaniel Phillips has had his brilliant form rewarded.

The Reds revealed via their official Twitter account on Thursday afternoon that the towering defender had been named as the club’s Player of the Month for March.

It’s been such an unpredictable and erratic season for Liverpool – 25 points behind Manchester City at the top of the Premier League – and so much of that stems from Jurgen Klopp being forced to chop and change his centre-backs on a regular basis due to injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

But Phillips and January loan signing Ozan Kabak finally represent some much-needed stability for the German coach and barring an injury, the Melwood academy prospect is going to be starting against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final this month.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed some towering defensive displays for Liverpool in recent weeks – the wins against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leipzig in the Champions League automatically come to mind.

It’s an award that is richly deserved for Phillips and here’s how some fans reacted to the announcement on Twitter:
