Arsenal fans praised Thomas Partey after he got on the scoresheet and helped Ghana to a 3-1 win over Zimbabwe in their World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The 28-year-old doesn’t score many goals, but he channelled his inner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang yesterday by cutting in from the left-hand side, putting several opposition players on the floor, keeping his cool and slotting the ball into the back of the net.

The goal was made and delivered by Partey because he was the one who won the ball on the edge of the area, before he started dancing his way towards goal.

Arsenal fans have questioned where are these goalscoring qualities when he is donning their colours because they would like to see him find the back of the net a lot more for them.

But it was a positive display from the hard-hitting midfielder and another encouraging sign that he is getting back to his best.

It’s just typical Arsenal that, before Partey joined the club he didn’t have any injury issues, but as soon as he dons their colours he was visiting the treatment room on a number of occasions.

But he is slowly getting back to his best now and his recent display for Ghana is good news for Mikel Arteta.

Both Ghana and Zimbabwe will lock horns once again on Tuesday, this time away from home and in the second round of their World Cup qualifier.

There’s not long remaining before the 2022 World Cup kicks off and Partey will want to be standing tall for his country in Qatar, but they have to get that ticket first.

Here is a selection of Arsenal fans reacting to Partey’s display for Ghana:
