Newcastle have handed a new contract to defender Paul Dummett.
Newcastle United yesterday showed their appreciation for the efforts of left-back Paul Dummett by handing him a new contract.
Dummett has been a regular in the team since his return from injury and his performances have shown he deserved an extension on his deal which was set to expire in the summer.
Shaw cost the Red Devils £27 million and has since worked his way back into the first team at Old Trafford, but Paul Dummett’s performances hold up well.

Dummett compares favourably with Luke Shaw, making tackles, interceptions, blocks and clearances at a more prolific rate.
Shaw records a better passing accuracy and creates more chances, but Dummett has a superior crossing accuracy to Shaw.
If Newcastle had managed to sign Shaw on loan it would not necessarily have been a bad deal, but it would have cost the club a lot in wages.
Dummett’s performances have shown it was an investment Newcastle did not need to make and their faith in the former academy star is well earned.
