
Some Liverpool fans are reacting on Twitter to hearing that they could have quite easily signed an expensive defender during the January transfer window.
The Reds were in dire need of centre-backs even before the window opened.
But Liverpool left it late and only signed Ozan Kabak on a half-season loan from Schalke and Ben Davies from Preston on deadline day.
Kabak is only 20 has a lot of potential and will cost Michael Edwards around £18 million if he wants to sign him permanently, while 25-year-old Davies has never played in the Premier League before.
According to The Independent, Liverpool may have had a better option than both but they failed to sign Duje Caleta-Car from Marseille in a £20 million deal simply because they left it late and gave the French outfit no time to sign a replacement.
