Tottenham Hotspur fans are hoping that the club do decide to go for Erik ten Hag, as he emerges as a viable alternative to Paulo Fonseca.
The Guardian report how Fonseca has been the leading candidate to takeover at Tottenham.
However, the report suggests that any deal is far from a foregone conclusion and that Ten Hag still has a chance of landing the job.
It’s fair to say that the news of Fonseca’s potential appointment at Spurs has not gone down particularly well.
And it seems that Tottenham fans are far more keen to see Ten Hag arrive, as the latest report has caused great excitement.
Ten Hag or Fonseca?
In fairness to Fonseca and Ten Hag there is a risk with appointing either manager.
Neither of them have managed in England before, and would arrive at Spurs with points to prove.
Ten Hag, though, does have a slightly bigger reputation than Fonseca.
Ten Hag has led Ajax to success both domestically and in Europe during his time with the Dutch giants, and has done so in a stylish manner.
He also has a fine track record at developing players, and that could be crucial for a Tottenham side who may not have lavish sums to spend on renovating their squad this summer.
