Liverpool fans will be starved of any competitive matches for a couple of weeks.

But the club did hold a full 11 versus 11 match in training at The Axa Training Centre this past weekend.

It was red shirts against the black ones at Liverpool’s base on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp and his staff observed from the touchline as some senior stars mixed it with younger players.

One younger player who made a big impression is Kaide Gordon.

Liverpool signed the 16-year-old from Derby County last month and some fans of the Anfield club have been waxing lyrical about footage of him from the game.

Gordon bagged a very decent assist for Ben Woodburn – who scored a hat-trick – and also got himself on the score sheet.

It was a runaway victory for the red shirts, who picked up a 5-1 win.

Here’s how some Liverpool fans reacted to seeing Gordon:

Michael Edwards has signed a number of talented youngsters in recent years, but none more so than Harvey Elliott.

At 17, Elliott is only a year older than Gordon and has been ripping up the Championship on loan with Blackburn Rovers this season.

And it wouldn’t be a huge shock if Liverpool also try to secure a second-tier loan for Gordon next term.
