Stephen Warnock called on former club Liverpool to make a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Thursday [BBC Radio 5 Live].
The Reds have missed out on signing Timo Werner and if Jurgen Klopp is still in the market, he’s been told to try and bring the Gabon international to Anfield.
Aubameyang is arguably the best number nine in the Premier League after scoring 51 goals in only 79 appearances for Arsenal.
In fact, he reached the half-century quicker than anybody in the North London club’s history – including Thierry Henry – but with his contract expiring in 12 months, has been linked with a move away.
And here’s how some fans – Liverpool and otherwise – have reacted to Warnock’s suggestion on Twitter:
Is he better than Firmino, as one fan pointed out? Well, no.
He’s a superior goalscorer, for sure, but Firmino’s game isn’t solely about goals. If it was, he wouldn’t be in Klopp’s best XI every week for the past few years.
Plus, Liverpool don’t need Aubameyang’s goals, given that Sadio Mane and Mo Salah hit 50 between them virtually every year and that might not be the case if Aubameyang was the focal point instead of one of them.
