Harvey Elliott has been providing his alternative commentary for Liverpool’s game against Newcastle earlier this season on the Reds’ YouTube channel, and he’s made a rather interesting comment about one of his teammates.

Of course, the hero of this match was none other than Elliott’s former Fulham teammate and good friend, Fabio Carvalho, and when he was shown the moment the midfielder came off the bench, he joked that the youngster is better than Luis Figo.

As an attacking midfielder from Portugal, comparisons between Carvalho and Figo are inevitable, and Elliott, with his tongue firmly in his cheek, claimed that he’s heard Carvalho is the better of the two players.

Better than Figo

Elliott made a comment about Carvalho and Figo.

“Hendo coming off, a great game. Fabio Carvalho, Here he is. Wow, he’s better than Figo I’ve heard,” Elliott said.

Inside joke

These two have been friends for years, dating back to their time together in the Fulham academy, and we have to imagine that this is something of an inside joke between the pair.

With Carvalho being a budding Portuguese midfielder, the Figo comparisons are always going to be there, and while he’s not too similar in terms of style of play, he probably wouldn’t mind reaching the same level as his fellow countryman.

Figo is genuinely one of the greatest footballers of all-time. He’s a Ballon d’Or winner who achieved so much in the game.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that Carvalho can follow in Figo’s footsteps, but they will also be hoping he doesn’t copy Figo in making a controversial transfer to one of their biggest rivals.
