West Bromwich Albion and Arsenal have both experienced problems this season.
West Brom manager Alan Pardew faced the media in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Burnley on Saturday, and used Arsenal as an example when asked whether he was concerned to see so many empty seats at the Hawthorns, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The Baggies are now almost certain to get relegated, with 10 points separating them from safety, having won just three Premier League games all season long.
Pardew failed to have the impact that was expected of him after his arrival at the club in November, guiding his side to just one league win since then, and apathy has certainly begun to set in amongst the West Brom faithful.
The 56-year-old spoke to reporters after his side’s eighth consecutive league defeat, and responded to a question asking him if he was concerned to see so many Baggies fans stay away from the Hawthorns for the Burnley match, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“That’s evident of where we are and society to a degree as well. It’s happened at Arsenal many times, they say 50,000, I’ve been there when it was 20,000. So at least our percentage was more than that.”
Next up for West Brom is a home game against Swansea on Saturday, and nothing less than a win will do, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of beating the drop this season.
