Micah Richards has praised Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold on Match of the Day 2 but has suggested that he feels Manchester City’s Kyle Walker has been better than him this season.
Alexander-Arnold has really come to the fore recently for Liverpool, with the right-back showing some of his strongest form this campaign.
Richards feels that Alexander-Arnold now must be taken to the European Championships by Gareth Southgate.
But he admits that the Liverpool man may have to sit on the bench, as he feels Walker has been better for the majority of the campaign.
“You have 26 players, he has to go. Even if he has to go as a midfield player,” Richards said.
“For someone of that quality, look at his delivery of the ball and set pieces from competitions.
“I would have Kyle Walker. I would start Walker because he’s had a better season consistently.
“Alexander-Arnold I’ve said it from the start of the season, regardless of whether he’s in bad form, he’s still got to go to the Euro’s.

“He’s got his Player of the Month award and it shows he’s still got everything to his game.
“People have mentioned he can play in midfield and look at the technique.”
Alexander-Arnold certainly showed his value to both England and Liverpool yesterday.
The right-back was a constant source of threat down the Reds’ right, as they narrowly beat West Bromwich Albion.
It was Alexander-Arnold who delivered the corner which Alisson scored from in the last minute to see Liverpool to the three points at the Hawthorns.
Southgate surely must have noted the 22-year-old’s performances since his recent omission from the England squad, and be considered a change of heart now.
Alexander-Arnold may have some flaws, but he has been one of the best players in the Premier League in recent months, and his obvious qualities could prove valuable to the Three Lions this summer.
