Glenn Hoddle thinks Eric Dier has become a ‘better player’ under Antonio Conte’s new system, as he told Amazon Prime.
The Tottenham legend added that Dier is now ‘pulling the strings’ for Spurs from the back.
The 27-year-old has had a tough time during the past 12 months, including losing his England place and missing out on going to Euro 2020.
But his form has started to pick up this season, especially since Antonio Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in the club’s dugout.
Whilst Hoddle worked his magic and pulled the strings in much different and better ways during his playing days.
The TV pundit now thinks Dier is doing that in north London and he is benefiting from the three at the back system Conte is deploying.
“I think Dier has become such a better player with having the three,” said Hoddle.
“He pulls the strings with the ball now. He was going through a little bit of a flat period in his career and I think that’s a big change and I see that in quite a few of the players.
“They know the shape. They know the foundation of what the manager has put down. They are working harder, that’s a fact. But I think they are enjoying themselves with the way they are playing.”

It might not come straight away, but with his current form, Dier is probably getting back in the thoughts process of Gareth Southgate.
Dier’s form is certainly making him a talked-about figure, not only that, his versatility has proved to be useful before.
But with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen departing Spurs in recent seasons, the club have needed a senior figure to step up,
And Dier is seemingly doing that now, it’s just a question of whether he can keep it up over the long term.
