Tim Sherwood has said on Sky Sports that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should not waste their money on signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager believes that Arsenal should look at other options, and the Sky Sports pundit does not think that Caicedo would make the Gunners that much better.

The Athletic have reported that Arsenal want to sign Caicedo from Premier League rivals Brighton in the final days of the January transfer window.

The Gunners have reportedly made a bid of £60 million.

The Seagulls have turned it down.

Arsenal could make a new offer.

Chelsea also had an offer for the 21-year-old Ecuador international midfielder turned down, according to 90min,

However, Caicedo wants to leave Brighton in the January transfer window and has publicly expressed his desire on Instagram to join either Chelsea or Arsenal.

Tim Sherwood on Arsenal’s interest in Moises Caicedo

Sherwood said about Arsenal and Caicedo: “When everyone’s fit, he doesn’t play. We dug out some highlights of his game there.

“Do you see £70 million in someone who can run around and tackle? His passing range ain’t fantastic. He scores one goal in a blue moon.

“For me, it’s an awful lot of money. There are better options out there for Arsenal, Tielemans.”

Trust in Arteta and Edu

We do not think that Moises Caicedo is worth £60 million, but if Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Sporting Director Edu think that he is worth it, then so be it.

Arsenal fans should have faith in Arteta and Edu.

After all, they have done their transfer business well.

Now, Sherwood does raise some good points, but the Arsenal recruitment team will be well aware of them.

Moreover, Caicedo is only 21, so Arteta and his coaching staff could make him better and develop him further.
