Why Celtic fans should not write off Scott McTominay.

Celtic legend Pat Bonner once again has lamented the club missing out on John McGinn, in an interview with The Evening Times.
Celtic still need midfield additions with doubts over the future of Scott Brown and two names have been presented in the past week.
Yaya Toure hinted he would be open to discussions, via Goal, while The Scottish Sun report Manchester United’s Scott McTominay could sign on loan.
Both players would be short-term moves, when Celtic need to think long-term.
Yet looking at McTominay’s Manchester United situation, if Celtic play their cards right, they actually have a pretty good chance of signing him permanently.
The defensive midfielder has lost his confidence at Old Trafford this season, but there is a good player in there, as he demonstrated last season. An excellent performance in a win at home to Chelsea was one such instance.

The midfield at Manchester United is crowded and the Red Devils are looking at a more attacking approach, with youngster James Garner making in-roads to the first team, recently being named on the bench.
New coaching staff at United have made clear McTominay is not in their immediate plans, and at 22, he cannot waste time sitting on the bench or in the stands.
If Celtic push to sign him, and give McTominay proper playing time, he could really thrive and become their own answer to John McGinn.
This is a player Jose Mourinho benched Paul Pogba for in a vital Champions League tie last season do not forget.
A successful spell for McTominay at Celtic would make him open to a permanent or extended loan deal.
A short term option could turn into a long term switch, and this option just does not exist where an ageing Toure is concerned.
It would be a gamble, with no guarantees, but Celtic should take the chance and do absolutely everything to make it work.
