Rangers’ hopes of bringing Derek McInnes to Ibrox could be dented.

The Gers sacked manager Pedro Caixinha last month after a disappointing seven-month stint at Ibrox, but their search for a new boss is entering its fourth week.
Caretaker Graeme Murty won his first two games in convincing fashion, but a 2-0 home defeat to Hamilton Academical over the weekend has severely dented his chances of landing the job permanently.
The favourite throughout the process has been Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes, with BBC Sport recently reporting that he is the top choice of the Gers – but no approach has been made.
Now, Rangers may face a battle to bring their former midfielder back to Ibrox, as West Bromwich Albion – a club McInnes captained to promotion to the Premier League back in 2002 – have sacked manager Tony Pulis this week.
The Scottish Sun claim that West Brom will ask for permission to speak to Aberdeen boss McInnes this week in a bid to bring him back to The Hawthorns, having impressed since joining the Dons in April 2013.
McInnes’ 58% win rate at Pittodrie has seen him attract interest, and whilst he turned down Sunderland over the summer, he could be on the move to either Rangers or West Brom in the near future.
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on McInnes’ links to West Brom, with many suggesting that the Gers board now need to pull their finger out and secure McInnes’ services, suggesting that they will regret it if he heads to West Brom instead.
Others aren’t so sure that McInnes is good enough for Rangers anyway, and feel that he may pick a move back to West Brom rather than a return to Ibrox if given the choice.
