The former Tottenham Hotspur chairman expressed his surprise at West Ham’s current form.
West Ham United are third in the Premier League in December. Wow.
What a season the Hammers are having. Sam Allardyce’s men beat Swansea City 3-1 earlier today and, despite going a goal down, never looked in trouble beyond half-time.
If one West Ham star suffers an injury problem or a dip in form, another replaces him – and does just as good a job.
You have to wonder if this is the pinnacle for the east London side, or if things can stay the same for a long time to come or get even better.
Former Tottenham chairman Alan Sugar, for one, doesn’t seem to believe what he is seeing. The ex-Spurs man revealed as much on Twitter after West Ham’s 3-1 win, including Hammers co-owner David Gold in the tweet and suggesting he looked just as surprised in his pre-match interview!
What Lord Sugar wouldn’t give for Tottenham to be in a similar position… Spurs drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace on Saturday but perhaps their time will come.
For now, Gold, David Sullivan, Sam Allardyce and the West Ham fans are the ones celebrating – even if some of them can’t quite believe it.
