Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Football London’s Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold tweeted about Dane Scarlett.

The 16-year-old is part of Jose Mourinho’s squad to take on LASK this evening, having flown out with the first-team yesterday.

It represents a crazy week for the teenager, who became the youngster player in Tottenham’s history after appearing against Ludogorets exactly a week ago, beating John Bostock’s record.

Should he face LASK with Harry Kane and Vinicius said to be doubts for the Europa League clash, it would suggest that Mourinho views Scarlett as a useable first-team member – rather than some prospect who he handed minutes to when 4-0 up and coasting.

Regardless of what the ex-Chelsea boss sees him as, it is nevertheless exciting to see such a young striker involved in first-team matters.

16 was the age of Wayne Rooney when he made his breakthrough at Everton, scoring against Arsenal.

If Spurs can tutor Scarlett to be even half as good as the Manchester United legend, then they’ll have a fantastic forward on their hands.

If Spurs win tonight and Royal Antwerp lose, it will put the north Londoners in charge of Group J with just one more game to go.
