Whisper it, but Cody Drameh could be a major player for Leeds United in 2023.

It’s fair to say that the 21-year-old has struggled under Jesse Marsch during the first half of the campaign.

Despite summer speculation about quitting Leeds, Drameh stayed in West Yorkshire but it hasn’t proven worth it just yet.

That’s because the American manager has used him in only 70 minutes of the Whites’ Premier League games overall.

The bulk of his football this season is coming in the Under-21s.

But could Drameh get more opportunities after Christmas? Based on Marsch’s latest comments, yes.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the Leeds boss revealed that he’s never seen Drameh look so good as he has done during the Spain-based training camp recently.

Marsch said: “Cody Drameh for me has had his best two weeks he’s ever had since I’ve been here. Mentally he is pretty clear in his head. I think he’s playing really well. We considered starting him today because he is doing so well.”

Clearly Drameh impressed in a victory over Elche on Friday, as Marsch’s side came from behind to win the friendly.

Staying at Leeds was a major gamble by the player, who could’ve easily returned to the Championship after impressing on loan with Cardiff City during the second half of last season.

But as we know, fortune favours the brave and it’ll be fascinating if Drameh earns Premier League opportunities in 2023.
