Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing what Demba Ba has done with his football club, San Diego 1904 FC.
What’s the story?
Well, Ba revealed at the Newcastle United Foundation event that he chose black and white stripes for San Diego 1904 because of Newcastle.
As quote by the Chronicle, the 36-year-old said: “With Newcastle and Besiktas, they are two of the clubs in which the passion of the fans is just mad. This is why when I decided on the colour for my team in America, I wanted black and white colours for the shirts.”
Even eight years on from his departure on Tyneside, it’s clear that Ba still holds Newcastle close to his heart.
Judging by the responses below, the Toon Army also continue to hold the retired striker in high regard.
Two supporters even said he’s the best striker Newcastle have had since Alan Shearer, which is some praise indeed!
Hopefully, both Newcastle and San Diego 1904 can enjoy success from this point on while wearing the famous black and white stripes.
Can Newcastle replace Demba Ba?

With the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and their £320bn on Tyneside, Newcastle can surely find a replacement for Ba.
Having said that, it won’t be easy.
Callum Wilson is a reliable goalscorer, but ever since Ba’s departure for Chelsea, Newcastle have arguably failed to replace the former Senegal international.

Impressively, Ba netted 29 goals in 58 games for the Magpies, helping them to 5th in the Premier League in his only full campaign.
In our view, Wilson is too injury prone, so Eddie Howe must spend some of PIF’s money on a Ba replacement.
For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about the news…
