Tottenham hero Harry Kane hit a landmark figure of 100 Premier League goals this weekend – a figure he aims to more than double.

Whatever happens next in his career, Kane has achieved so much already from an individual standpoint.

And it appears he has Arsenal to thank, after they released him from their academy at eight-years-old.

In a compelling column for the Player’s Tribune, Kane talked about his release providing him with the motivation he has needed to drive himself on to be a success.

Kane said: “I was only eight when they let me go — but every time we played them, I thought, “Alright, we’ll see who’s right and who’s wrong.”

“Looking back on it now, it was probably the best thing that ever happened to me, because it gave me a drive that wasn’t there before.”

Kane can begin his march to 200 goals when he takes on Arsenal at the weekend, and he will be looking to make up for a disappointing performance against them last time around.

He was barely fit when he was rushed back from injury for the match at The Emirates and Tottenham ended up losing.

Kane will go up against an Arsenal side suddenly full of confidence thanks to new signings Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Spurs will have to be wary.

But Kane and Tottenham have emerged on top against Aubameyang this season, winning Champions League games home and away against Dortmund.
