Some Liverpool fans on social media are absolutely buzzing after Virgil van Dijk announced he won’t be going to the Euros with the Netherlands during his interview with the club’s website.
Of course, it’s sad that van Dijk will miss the tournament due to injury, but the defender is putting his club before his country, focusing on getting back to his best for next season.
As you can imagine, Liverpool supporters had plenty to say about this update.
Understandably, fans were buzzing to hear that van Dijk wouldn’t be going to the Euros as it will give him more time to recover and reduce the chance of him aggravating his injury.
Perhaps it’s a little selfish for Liverpool fans to think of the situation in this way, but to be fair, we can understand why they’re so happy.
The worst case scenario would have been van Dijk rushing back for the Euros and re-injuring himself, but that’s now something Liverpool fans needn’t worry about.
