Ben Davies impressed for Tottenham Hotspur against Everton.

Danny Rose has been a big miss for Tottenham in recent weeks, but against Everton his deputy Ben Davies really stepped up.

Davies was on the front foot and aggressive, a far cry from his timid display against Liverpool at Anfield three weeks ago

Davies was a force going forwards, creating four goalscoring chances – and one assist.

This was higher than his previous best this season of two key passes, achieved twice against Leicester and Swansea City, and was his best since signing for Tottenham in 2014.

The Wales international also won four tackles, more than he has managed in any match this season.

He topped this once in his debut season against Crystal Palace where he made five tackles – but created only one chance in that game.

Davies’ combined four tackles and four key passes was the most he has managed in any of his appearances for Spurs to date, putting in a well rounded display for his team.

Tottenham’s shift in formation has given Davies more license to get forward, and he appears to have grasped it.

There is no return date set for Danny Rose to return yet, but he might have a tougher time going straight back into the starting XI than previously envisioned if Davies can keep up this sort of form.
