Some Everton fans are over the moon after Ben Godfrey was named in Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad for the Euros.
England head to the tournament next month and the defender has been selected as an option for Southgate.
Of course, a selection in the preliminary squad doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll be going to the tournament, but it’s still great to see the Everton man getting the credit he deserves after such a fantastic campaign.
Godfrey’s debut season for the Toffees has been incredibly impressive, he’s played all across the back four and has been incredible pretty much every time he’s stepped onto the pitch.
That sort of versatility will make him a real asset at international level, so it’s no surprise that Southgate wanted to take a closer look at the Everton man.
Fingers crossed Godfrey can impress during his time with the squad and he can retain his place once Southgate cuts his side down to include just 26 players.
