‘Best in the world’: Some fans react as they sign 28-year-old who made 110 apps for Tottenham

Villarreal fans have reacted on Twitter to the signing of Serge Aurier after he was released by Tottenham.

On transfer deadline day, Spurs and Aurier agreed to terminate his contract, as they signed Emerson Royal and he became a free-transfer.

It took him several months, but Aurier has now found a new home in Spain.

Villarreal fans are seemingly pleased that they have signed the 28-year-old, who did divide opinion with his erratic style during his days in North London.

What’s interesting is that he will link-up with a familiar face in Juan Foyth, who has been thriving since leaving Spurs.

He won the Europa League last season and is now playing Champions League football.

Perhaps Spurs now regret allowing him to leave because he is proving his former club wrong, or, at least those who never gave him a proper chance.

Foyth has been deployed at right-back by former Arsenal boss Unai Emery and now the ex-Tottenham boys might fight it out for that spot.

Either way, there are a number of players, who were perhaps questioned in North London, now doings bits with the Yellow Submarine.

Emery, who was sacked by Arsenal, helped the Spanish giants to a Europa League final win over Manchester United, with ex-Gunner Francis Coquelin in the middle of the park.

Then there is Foyth, who is now joined by Aurier and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he does the business out in Spain.
