Everton are reportedly keen on Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Everton are interested in snapping up Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer.

Wilshere, 26, has come up through the ranks with Arsenal following a 2001 move from Luton Town, but injuries have resulted in the England ace failing to really fulfil his potential.

Now, Wilshere is in limbo given that his Arsenal contract expires this summer, and with no new deal appearing close, he could walk away for nothing at the end of the season.

Everton are reportedly positioning themselves to be the the frontrunners in the race for Wilshere’s signature, with the Toffees allegedly willing to better Arsenal’s £80,000-a-week contract offer.

Whilst luring Wilshere up north may be somewhat difficult, one factor that could sway Wilshere is the presence of Wayne Rooney, given the pair’s seemingly strong relationship to date.

The duo have featured together with England, and Wilshere even took to Twitter in January of this year to claim that Rooney is the best player he has ever played with.

That could just tempt Wilshere into making a move to Goodison Park so he can play alongside Rooney again before the 32-year-old retires, given that he has already quit playing international football.

Rooney’s pulling power could come into play with Wilshere, as his public admiration for the Everton star may lead to them playing together in midfield next season, giving Wilshere a fresh start away from Arsenal and the chance to reunite with Rooney at Goodison Park.
