Chris Sutton has claimed on Twitter that he’s seen evidence of Neil Lennon winning back the support of his Celtic players after last night’s 2-2 draw with Lille in the Europa League.
Lennon’s side went to France on the back of a three-match winless streak which, for the Hoops, has been pretty rare these past few years.
Celtic suffered back-to-back defeats by Rangers and AC Milan, before drawing 3-3 with Aberdeen last weekend.
Going by the form book, this could’ve been messy for the Scottish Premiership champions, but the visitors cruised into a two-goal lead by the half-time break courtesy of a brilliant brace from Mohamed Elyounoussi.
The Bhoys conceded twice in the second half to ensure they return to Glasgow with just the one point when it looked like all three were on offer.
Elyounoussi, who could and probably should have scored at least a hat-trick, was obviously Celtic’s stand-out player on the night, having also set up Albian Ajeti with a couple of fine chances.
And Sutton said on Twitter that it was the Southampton loanee’s best game for the Scottish giants on a night where Lennon proved that he still has the backing of his playing staff.
