Jack Wilshere made his return for Arsenal yesterday for their under-21s. He made quite an impression.
Jack Wilshere’s first performance in 2012 ended in defeat, but it didn’t matter. What did matter was that he came through in unscathed.
He played 63 minutes at the Hawthorns in a match which ended 1-0 to the home side, his first appearance in an Arsenal shirt for 14 months.
Emmanuel Frimpong played for 70 minutes too, building on his late substitute showing against Coventry City in the Capital One Cup last Tuesday.
They made a good impression on West Brom youngster Izzy Brown, who took to Twitter after the game to talk about what a great day it was for him.
Brown is a highly rated prospect himself, an England under-17 international who won his first cap at just 15. He is a playmaker who is very highly thought of at Albion.
The experience of mixing it with Wilshere will certainly have given him more of a taste to go on and make a name for himself one day.

It’s unclear when Wilshere’s next outing will be, but his progress is going along well, and if he can carry on making such a similar impression on his opponents then it certainly bodes well for Arsenal.
