William Saliba has proven himself a revelation since leaving Arsenal on loan.

The 20-year-old defender joined Marseille in Ligue 1 during the summer and so far, he has been exceptional.

Saliba, who cost Arsenal £27 million in 2019, has even stood-to-toe with a certain Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain and come out on top.

With this being his second loan away from the Gunners, there’s a fear that manager Mikel Arteta doesn’t rate him and could sell the player to the French side long term.

But The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that man himself wants a return to Arsenal, and to prove himself.

Here’s how some fans of the North London club reacted to this development:

Enormous

If it’s true, it’s absolutely great news – and it’s believable.

Remember, Saliba hasn’t kicked a ball for Arsenal since joining for a relatively big-money fee well over two years ago.

Why wouldn’t the young powerhouse feel obligated to prove himself at the Emirates Stadium?

His performance against PSG and Mbappe last month was a big reminder that Arsenal have themselves an enormous prospect.

And frankly, selling up would be a catastrophic error from the North Londoners.

Anyone who handles Mbappe like Saliba did has such a bright future in the sport.

And the idea that Saliba holds no grudges regarding Arsenal and wants a return is a brilliant piece of news.
