Don Hutchison claimed that Dejan Kulusevski was making the ‘best choices’ during his Tottenham debut on Saturday, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The former midfielder added that the 21-year-old was ‘keeping it simple’ during his cameo FA Cup appearance.
Antonio Conte brought his two new signings – Rodrigo Bentancur and Kulusevski – off the bench during their FA Cup win against Brighton.
Whilst Bentancur showcased quick feet and a dazzling piece of skill early on in his debut, Kulusevski was constantly trying to get the ball onto his left foot every time he got the ball.
Kulusevski did lay the ball off for Steven Bergwijn in the middle of the penalty area, but he skied his shot over the bar.
This is what Hutchison made of Kulusevski’s first performance in a Tottenham shirt following his move from Juventus.
“Kulusevski I thought was a lot more straightforward (compared to Bentancur),” said Hutchison.
“He’s a young player trying to get some minutes into his new career at Tottenham. He was making the best choices. Keeping it simple.
“He provided one or two passes for Harry Kane. Solid performance.”

Many would back Antonio Conte to turn the duo into superstars following their deadline day moves.
Throughout his career, the Italian has constantly showcased the ability to eek out every bit of talent from a player.
From players that are highly rated, players who aren’t rated and those who have fallen off.
Conte is the coach for you and he is proving to do the trick at Spurs, at this moment in time, with only Chelsea really causing them damage during his time at the club.
