Yesterday, Arsenal loanee Matteo Guendouzi and Marseille President Pablo Longoria appeared on RMC Sport, where some significant news was revealed.

What’s the story?

Well, Longoria confirmed that he’ll be signing Guendouzi on a permanent basis this summer, when the Frenchman’s season-long loan ends.

The £49,000-a-week Arsenal loanee then shared some comments of his own.

Speaking to RMC Sport, the 22-year-old said: “It’s a well considered choice. There were very good discussions with the President, the coach, people in my family. It’s the best choice I’ve made for many years. It started a little before the transfer window. Today, I am very happy and fulfilled here”.

Evidently, Guendouzi is very happy in France. RMC Sport believe he has signed a contract with Marseille running until 2025, which is reward for his fine displays this season.

The France international has scored four goals, while also providing 11 assists, in 38 appearances this season.

As Guendouzi states, he has matured at the Stade Vélodrome, and his progress is there for all to see in terms of goal involvements.

Arsenal are right to sell Matteo Guendouzi

Many Arsenal fans fell in love with the Frenchman after he was signed from Lorient by Unai Emery in 2018.

Guendouzi was brave, confident in possession and a popular figure amongst fans, but it all went sour when he got on Mikel Arteta’s bad side.

As Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has already discovered, you don’t want to upset the Spaniard, or you’ll be banished.

It is very important that Arteta creates a culture at the Emirates Stadium, in which everyone plays for each other and nobody feels they are above the rules.

As Football London revealed, Guendouzi angered Arteta and the Arsenal coaches, and refused to apologise when given the chance.

It came after he was accused of mocking Brighton players in June 2020, and rubbing his salary in their faces.

Arsenal are losing a fantastic player, without a doubt, although on this occasion, his departure is a necessary one.
