Noa Lang was linked with a move to Celtic but believes Belgian giants Club Brugge are the perfect club to unlock his potential, speaking to the club’s official Twitter page.

While the Hoops managed to keep hold of Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Olivier Ntcham despite missing out again on the Champions League group stage, failing to reach Europe’s prestigious club competition won’t have done their reputation much good in the transfer market.

Goal reported in August that Celtic were interested in signing Dutch U21 international Lang from Ajax.

But with Brugge offering the fleet-footed winger the chance to play Champions League football for the first time after lifting the Belgian title last term, Lang’s mind was quickly made up.

“It was the right time to leave Ajax,” Lang said, less than a year after marking his Eredivisie debut with a stunning hat-trick against FC Twente (translated by Nieuwsblad).

“I have to think about myself and make sure I reach the top. That’s why Brugge was the best choice.

“This club has a lot of ambition and potential – and I want to be part of that. The goal should be to spend the winter (of 2021) in the Champions League.”

A month after Celtic suffered a humiliating qualification defeat to Ferencvaros, Brugge were drawn against Dortmund, Lazio and Zenit St Petersburg in a difficult but not unconquerable Champions League group.

The Blue Blacks will pay £5.5 million for Lang.
