The Turkish club want to be sign Benteke but admit that a deal will be difficult due to the Reds’ demands.
The president and vice-president of Turkish club Besiktas have told turkish-football.com that they want to sign Liverpool misfit Christian Benteke, but admitted that a deal will prove difficult as they are keen on a loan rather than a permanent transfer.
Benteke looks set to leave Anfield this summer after falling out of favour under manager Jurgen Klopp, with Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Frimino, Divock Origi, and Danny Ings all likely to be above him in the pecking order this season.
The signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton – though the £34m man is largely a wide player – has further restricted Benteke’s opportunities.
He has been linked heavily with Premier League side Crystal Palace, but Besiktas president Fikret Orman has revealed that his side are also keen to be in the running.
Oman told turkish-football.com: “Benteke is a great player but he has a very high market valuation. I want Benteke but Liverpool want a lot for him, it won’t be an easy transfer but we will see.”
The club’s vice-president, Ahmet Nur Cebi, also said: “Benteke is a player we are interested [in], we are pushing for him and would want him to be transferred to the club.”
However, it is thought that a major sticking point for any deal would be that Besiktas are far more keen on a loan move than a permanent deal, although turkish-football.com report that the club would be willing to put €4.5 million (£3.9 million) towards a termporary deal.
A permanent move to Palace still looks far more likely, particularly given that the Eagles now have £25 million to play with after selling Yannick Bolasie to Everton.
