The Everton midfielder is likely to join Middlesbrough on loan.

There has been plenty of transfer activity involving Everton this month and one player who could depart before the deadline, albeit on a temporary basis, is Muhamed Besic.

The midfielder, who has been on the periphery of proceedings at Everton this season, is likely to join Championship side Middlesbrough on loan, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Besic has shown glimpses of his quality during his time at Everton but he has found it difficult to perform consistently, with his cause not helped by injuries.

The 25-year-old will be determined to make a major impact if he does join Middlesbrough and he is certainly capable of succeeding in the Championship.

It remains questionable, though, whether Besic is able to perform consistently in the Premier League as he can frequently get pushed off the ball and has limited space in which to play precise passes.

A loan switch to Middlesbrough would provide Besic with an ideal opportunity to play regularly and hopefully start to demonstrate what he is capable of.

In the long term, however, the Bosnian still has much more to do to provide a convincing case that he can cut it in the Premier League and it wouldn’t be a major surprise if he was to leave Everton on a permanent basis in the summer.
