It looks like Arsenal fans’ prayers have been answered. The Gunners saw their star goalkeeper Bernd Leno stretchered off after what looked like a horrific knee injury.
An unnecessary collision with Brighton’s Neal Maupay saw the German land awkwardly and the lack of fans in the stadium helped everyone hear him cry in agony.
Everyone feared an ACL injury for Leno which usually rules a player out of action for the best part of a year. That would have been a humongous blow for the Gunners who have been overly reliant on their goalkeeper’s saves.
Thankfully though, Arsenal confirmed on their official website that Leno’s injury isn’t as serious as they expected and that he will return to training in four to six weeks time.
Arsenal fans breathed a huge sigh of relief. Leno himself took to Twitter to confirm that he would be back soon which delighted Arsenal fans on the social media platform.
Leno might still miss the entirety of this season due to the time he may need to be match-fit once he is back to full training. However, it still is a massive boost for Arsenal for multiple reasons.
The Gunners will not have to dip into the transfer market to find a replacement for Leno. That is a relief for the Gunners who, like many other clubs, are struggling for cash ahead of this summer’s window.
Arsenal fans, as expected, are thrilled with the news about Leno. Here’s how a few of them reacted to his tweet.
