Everton midfielder Bernard has been held back in his first few weeks at the club.

Bernard was brought to Everton over the summer, following the expiration of his contract at Shakhtar Donetsk.
He has been used sparingly so far, but when he has been on the pitch, he has shown signs of promise.
And, given that Bernard is not as his best yet, by his own admission, Everton fans should be excited about what the Brazilian could do at Goodison Park.
“I’ve had five months without pre-season, but I’ve had a month here now and, slowly, I am getting the rhythm of the game and playing matches. I’m sure it’s going to get much better,” he said.
“To be here and to play in the Premier League, it is important for every player and I think it is important for my career.
“And it is easy to adapt when you have an atmosphere like we have at Everton. There are moments to have fun and moments to be serious, but it’s been a nice atmosphere.”

For Bernard still to feel that there is a big improvement is his game can only be good news for Everton.
The diminutive midfielder was one of the few positive things to come out of Everton’s recent defeat to West Ham United.
And if he can get even better, then Everton could have a real talent on their hands as the season progresses.
