Journalist Filipe Dias has told Sky Sports that Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has rejected the chance to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
The well-known and well-respected Portuguese journalist has claimed that Silva wants to leave City in the summer transfer window, but he does not want to switch to Arsenal.
Dias told Sky Sports: “The latest we heard is that Bernardo has rejected a move to Arsenal.
“And if that is the case, I think rightly so because I don’t think that would be a step forward in his career.
“I think he still has a lot in him. As it stands, Bernardo does want to leave, but there’s a big question mark as to where he will go.”
Blow for Arsenal
City manager Pep Guardiola recently said that Silva, who can play as a midfielder or as a winger, is among a number of players who want to leave the Premier League champions this summer.
The Mirror reported last week that Arsenal are exploring a move for the 26-year-old Portugal international – who cost City £43 million in transfer fee in the summer of 2017, as reported by Sky Sports at the time.

Silva turning down Arsenal is a blow for manager Arteta.
The 26-year-old has done well for City over the years, scoring 21 goals in 131 Premier League appearances.
Silva is 26, which means that he has yet to hit his peak, and he would be a very good signing for the Gunners.
The City attacker made 24 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League, and made 11 starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for City last season.
