Dimitar Berbatov was unable to answer who will win a trophy first – Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford – but he did make it clear that he will be ‘happy’ whoever lifts silverware.
The former Spurs & United striker told Stadium Astro that both teams need a trophy ‘for morale, for the players and for everyone’.
Solskjaer replaced Mourinho in the United dugout in December 2018 after he had won the Europa League & League Cup – the former Chelsea man has since taken the post at in North London.
Both will be expected to lift some form of silverware ahead of this campaign and when Berbatov was asked who will be the first to win a trophy, he was unable to answer.
“I am sure both of them is going to try and win something, it doesn’t matter what,” Berbatov told Stadium Astro. “Just go and win something. It’s going to be good for morale, for the player, for you and for everyone.
“Who is going to be the first? I don’t know. Whoever it is, I will be happy. I have played for both teams. I play against teams Jose Mourinho used to manage. I trained with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when I was at United.
“So, I’ll be happy whoever wins it first.”

United finished in the Champions League places last season and are starting to make strides in the transfer market, so winning a trophy is a must for them.
As for Mourinho, they missed out on a top-four finish, so it will be interesting to see what the reaction will be like if he does deliver Champions League football, but without a trophy.
At every club he has managed from Porto to Chelsea, he has added a trophy to the cabinet, and doing just that in North London will make him a popular man.
