Fiorentina are angry, very angry, after the soon to be former Manchester United player snubbed a possible switch to the club.
They had some very harsh words to say on their official website:
“The player and his agent got on a plane for Florence with tickets paid by Fiorentina. But he never arrived in Florence. This was down to the unconventional and arrogant actions of other clubs, who have nothing to do with fair play and sporting ethics that go even beyond the boundaries of fairness.
“As for the player, regardless of his characteristics and value, we can deem ourselves happy he did not join Fiorentina: he did not deserve our city, he did not deserve to wear our jersey and the values that represent it.”
Is that fair on the player? Who has been pushed from pillar to post by his own club, and simply wants to find the best deal for himself?
Or should he have honoured his agreement to at least negotiate with Fiorentina?
Standing a girl up on a date is not good manners, and the Viola are behaving like a woman scorned. Most would say they are quite justified, especially if it means they end up with Nicklas Bendtner instead.
Was Berbatov out of line? What do you think?
