Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has commented on his relationship with Ryan Mason.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb explained to talkSPORT before the game against West Ham last weekend, why he feels he has such a good relationship with teammate Ryan Mason.
The duo have quickly become two of Mauricio Pochettino’s most important midfield players and they will be vital if the club is going to get the better of Chelsea in the League Cup final this weekend.
Bentaleb feels that his connection and relationship with Mason is so strong because of how the pair started out at the club together.
“Yeah I remember when we were in the development squad together – we dreamed of playing in the prem and we learned a lot about each other,” said Bentaleb.
Mason’s form this season saw him rewarded by Tottenham with a new contract, with the London Evening Standard also claiming that Bentaleb is also in the frame for an extended deal.
They work so well together because they complement each other so effectively.
Bentaleb is a physically more imposing player in midfield, while Mason always stays busy and is always looking for ways to nip the ball back off of the opposition before moving it onto a more creative player.
They have also challenged each other throughout their careers. One of the only ways for players to get better and develop is if they’re being pushed by a high standard in training and during games.
This is certainly the case with the Tottenham pair and hopefully now, they can push on again.
