Darren Bent has told former club Tottenham Hotspur to go for Willian, arguing that he would complete Jose Mourinho’s forward line.
The Brazilian is set to be released by Chelsea next week after their FA Cup final with Arsenal at Wembley.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for the 31-year-old winger, who earns £120,000 per week in West London [Spotrac], but there’s nothing concrete.
Lilywhites boss Jose Mourinho is said to be a big fan of the player, whom he managed at Stamford Bridge.
And Bent, speaking to talkSPORT, believes that Willian is the missing piece of the puzzle for Mourinho with regards to attackers, suggesting that he, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane as a trident could do some damage.
He said: “I think Spurs would be in for him with the whole Mourinho factor, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal were interested – they want all of Chelsea’s leftovers… this is one I’d actually take, though!
“As far as Spurs, he’d fit right in there. Their right-hand side has been a problem, they’ve tried Steven Bergwijn and they’re tried Lucas Moura out there and its hasn’t quite worked.
“But if you now go Willian, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, that changes the whole dynamic of that team going forward.”
Not only would Willian fit Mourinho’s plans, but he’d also fit for Daniel Levy.
The Tottenham chairman won’t be making that much money available for transfers this summer, so when a brilliant freebie like this comes along, it has to be snapped up.
