Bent reacts on Twitter after goal-scoring role in Derby’s draw with Rotherham

Derby County striker Darren Bent, who is on loan from Aston Villa, continued his good form by scoring against Rotherham United.

Darren Bent believes that Derby County’s comeback against Rotherham United last night was evidence of the spirit that they have in their squad.

Derby drew 3-3 with Rotherham at the New York Stadium yesterday evening and it was certainly a hard-earned point.

The Rams had looked to be heading towards defeat after they fell 3-1 behind soon after half-time, but second-half strikes from Tom Ince and Bent helped them salvage a point.

It was a huge result for the side as they are locked in a battle for a top-two spot with Bournemouth and Middlesbrough, with every point gained looking precious.

Derby had headed to Yorkshire looking to come out victorious against a side who are in a relegation fight, but the draw would have felt like a win in the circumstances and Bent wasn’t too downbeat after the match on Twitter.

Bent’s goal confirmed just how important he has become for the side since signing on loan from Aston Villa.

The 31-year-old has notched six goals in his first seven games for Steve McClaren’s side and if he keeps that sort of scoring record up, the Rams look to have a good chance of claiming promotion.

Bent’s display last night wasn’t his finest, but his clinical finish meant that his below-par performance didn’t matter too much.

Bent only managed to touch the ball 22 times in the 90 minutes, successfully making just five of his ten passes, but he still completed his main task – hitting the back of the net.

It is this predatory instinct which has made him such a threat previously and Villa fans are likely to be watching his good form questioning why they decided to allow him to leave on loan, considering their lack of goals.
