The Hoops loanee, on Leicester City’s books, has enjoyed a good season at Parkhead and some Bhoys faithful are keen on keeping him for 2019-20.
Celtic defender Filip Benkovic has spoken of his future and admits he is open to have another season at Parkhead on loan from parent club Leicester City.
The Croatia Under-21 international has had an impressive season with the Hoops, but an injury setback and the departure of Brendan Rodgers to the King Power Stadium proved stumbling blocks to his progress.
Nonetheless, the ex Celtic boss said he would be willing to allow Benkovic to return again on loan next season as the Foxes currently have four central defenders in Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Wes Morgan and Caglar Soyuncu (Leicester Mercury).
The 21-year-old is quoted by Herald Scotland as saying in response to Rodgers’ comments: “At the moment I really do not know what will happen when my loan expires. I’ve spoken to the sports director at Leicester and he’s told me everyone at the club will soon sit down and decide what is best for me… whatever [Rodgers] decides, I will go along with.
“I have been really pleased with my season at Celtic. Of course, you can always do better, but I have played a lot of games at a very high level. Everyone at Celtic has told me they are happy with me… I have spoken to Neil Lennon. He told me that he would like me to stay at Celtic for another season.”

There have been concerns amongst the Celtic fanbase regarding the quality of the squad, not to mention the uncertainty over who will be manager next season.
However, with Benkovic seemingly given the go-ahead for another loan stint at Parkhead, which he appears open to, then that bodes well for the club’s hopes of silverware in 2019-20.
