Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles is reportedly in demand.

Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles is a player in demand, with West Ham United, Everton and Liverpool all reported to be interested in the former Nottingham Forest star.
According to The Independent, Liverpool are looking at Lascelles in the summer transfer window.
The Northern Echo has reported of Everton’s interest in the 24-year-old defender, while West Ham have had a bid for the former Forest man turned down by the Magpies, according to Sky Sports.
Lascelles is one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and he has emerged as a leader at the back for Newcastle over the past two or so seasons.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez has suggested that he will not sell the 24-year-old and wants the former Forest star to be a key part of his team.
Benitez told The Chronicle about Lascelles: “I think he’s a player who has a lot of potential. He has the mentality that fans enjoy and they like.
“He is a great example for the rest of the team. We need somebody who will stay here for many years and he can be that great leader and great captain in a great team.”

Reassuring for Newcastle United fans
Lascelles is a key figure in the current Newcastle team, and Benitez’s aforementioned comments will be reassuring to Newcastle fans.
For the Magpies to progress as a club and on the pitch, they need their best players to stay, and Newcastle cannot sell the 24-year-old, who earns £40,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com.
