The duo were both scorers in Newcastle United’s win over Bohemians.

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has said to the Chronicle that duo Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie must keep working after their impressive debuts.
The pair are two of five new faces to arrive at St. James’ Park this summer in what has been a busy transfer window so far for the Magpies.

Both players made their debuts last weekend as they featured in a 6-0 win over Irish side Bohemians as the Magpies started pre-season strongly.
It was a fine start for them too as they both found the back of the net, with Ritchie in particular scoring a superb individual effort. Benitez was encouraged, but has urged his new stars to continue working hard.
“It’s always good when you have new players coming in and they score,” he told the Chronicle.
“It gives you more confidence and it is a boost for them. Now they must keep working. I’m really pleased to see them score and the team play well.”

Benitez will be hoping that this strong start from his side is a sign of things to come in the Championship next season.
Newcastle are expected to run away with the division next year and secure an instant return to the Premier League.
If they are to do that they will need their summer signings to flourish and he will be keen to see Gayle and Ritchie build on a positive opening to their Magpie careers.
